About the Sabra Silk Pillows

What is cactus silk?

Cactus silk is a fabric created from a Saharan agave cactus. The artisans harvest the thorny leaves, hammer them and then soak them to release the fibers.  After that, they spun the fibers by hand using a traditional process to eventually make cactus silk. Which is then combined with camel wool and hand woven on a loom to create this stunning Moroccan style.

Local villagers harvest the leaves of the Sabra cactus plant for the filaments inside. While the yarn-dyed palette is sourced from all-natural botanical pigments. Each cushion cover gets its uniqueness and burnished when washing and drying in the Moroccan sun.

Care

Our Moroccan cactus silk cushions are delicately handmade and should be treated gently. Cactus Silk products are dry clean only. Do not use any chemicals to fix the color so as not to spot clean. Any liquid will affect the color of natural plant dyes and may cause the color to flow or transfer to other materials.
